Thanks for reading this year's Aviation Dally (that's D-A-L-L-Y), an annual spoof on airline industry news.

In case you were wondering, this is in no way affiliated with Aviation Daily or its publisher, McGraw-Hill. After reading all the great stuff in here, they probably wish they had something to do with it, but nope, they didn't.

A group of activists associated with California’s “No On Prop 8” movement is launching a new protest to boycott airlines that operate Dash 8 aircraft.

The Horizon 25th Anniversary Liverygroup is asking airlines to remove Dash 8s from their fleet and threatening a protracted boycott until that happens. Dash 8s, manufactured by Canada’s Bombardier Aerospace, are twin-engine propeller planes. Such planes are often referred to as “prop” planes.

“We don’t need these airlines flying these Prop 8s around, rubbing our nose in the fact that we were stripped of civil rights at the polls,” says Geoff Kors, who led the “No On Prop 8″ movement. Proposition 8, which was enacted by California voters in November, outlaws same-sex marriage in the state.

Specifically, the group is targeting three airlines — Air Canada Jazz, Mesa Airlines (which flies as US Airways Express), and Horizon Air — all of which fly the Dash — or Prop — 8s. “We’re urging all of our supporters to fly other airlines until all of these Prop 8s, not to mention inequality in general, are gone,” Kors said.

Meanwhile, a group of plane spotters have noted a mysterious build up of Dash 8s at Salt Lake City’s airport (SLC). The Salt Lake City-based LDS church, which bankrolled a major component of the campaign to enact Proposition 8 in California, has been rumored to be looking into expanding its airplane fleet.

Although a church spokesman refused to disclose any specific plans, he did say that “we’re a big fan of these Prop 8s. Good planes.”
